Lincoln is owned by Ford and is one of their more premium luxury brands. The Lincoln is considered a rival to the Cadillac, and pretty much always has been.
The Lincoln Continental is the first luxury vehicle (sedan) that was ever produced by a major car company.
Founded in 1917 by Henry and Wilfred Leland, the 'Lincoln' company as it is now was first known officially as 'The Lincoln Motor Company'.
After first producing aircraft engines for the war, Lincoln's first car was branded the 'Lincoln Model L', which of course was a luxury model.
In 1922 Lincoln was purchased by Ford. Although Ford already had some luxury models, they decided to market Lincoln as their luxury line of automobiles.
Throughout the years and up to the present, Lincoln has retained its affirmation as top-of-the-line in luxuriousness and comfort. |
