Auto Warranties & Maintenance Requirements

We are the Dependable Auto Repair Shop - Located on the west side of Sioux Falls, near the intersection of 15th St. and Marion Rd.

When you buy a new car, it comes with a warranty. In order not to void the warranty, you need to perform what is known as 'Factory Scheduled Maintenance' on your vehicle at various intervals.
This is different than the usual routine maintenance that is performed on any car, new or old.
Although it varies from vehicle make and model, generally the factory scheduled maintenance is performed at various interludes as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. It can be 15,000 miles, 30,000 miles, then 60,000 miles, then 90,000 miles and so forth. Each vehicle mileage requirements may be different.
At TDS Auto Repair, we will know the actual mileage that a factory scheduled maintenance program should be performed for your specific make and model of car, truck, crossover or SUV. You can also check your vehicle manual for this information.
Different maintenance is done at the various mileage intervals. The same maintenance is not necessarily performed at each interval.
The maintenance requirements are actually written by engineers and reps at the manufacturer, so they have a very good idea of what is needed to be done with your vehicle, and when.

You shouldn't ignore this very important aspect of owning a car!

Do I have to service my car at the dealership in order not to void my warranty?
No, you do not. Any qualified auto technician, whether it be at a dealership or an independent auto repair shop, has the knowledge and expertise needed to perform Factory Scheduled Maintenance.
It WILL NOT void your warranty if the Factory Scheduled Maintenance is done by the qualified car technicians at TDS Auto Repair.
The Federal Trade Commission talks about it on their Auto Warranties & Routine Maintenance webpage.

The vehicle manufacturer sets the maintenance required, but generally a Factory Scheduled Maintenance program includes:
Inspection of Belts and Hoses
Inspection of Fluids
Inspections of Filters
Checking Spark Plugs
Changing Cabin Air Filter
Check Fuel Filter
Oil Change
Timing belt inspection
Serpentine belt inspection
Check light bulbs
Transmission inspection
Engine coolant inspection
Other inspection requirements
Brake pads & new tires as needed

By keeping your car, truck or SUV in good working order throughout its life, your vehicle will repay you by lasting much longer into the future.
